Hey everyone, my name is Lawrence Ross and I'm what they call a pro-fess-ion-al writer. That means I get paid to write and hopefully enough folks buy my stuff. It's what I've always wanted to do, and I'm lucky enough to do it. Follow me on my journey.

I just finished Patrick Neate's "City of Tiny Lights." In it, main protagonist Tommy Akhtar -- a private-dick Brit of Indian extraction whose father emigrated from Uganda to escape Idi Amin -- is upbraided by his cab-company-owning brother for his investigations and how they brought "the filth" sniffing around.
