2:45am...

It's 2:45 am and I'm on page 60. I'm going to write ten pages tomorrow. Right now, I'm watching C-Span's coverage of Book Expo America. Now BEA has a special place in my heart. One, in 1996, I watch C-Span's coverage and decided to write my first book, The Divine Nine. And two, I signed at BEA when it was in Los Angeles a couple of years ago. It was fun and huge at the same time. Next year, when my book(s) come out.

10 pages would be a great accomplishment. So what time of the day do you find you write the best?

I usually (about 90%0 write at night. I'll start around 9pm and then go until I get sleepy. If I'm on a roll, I'll stay up until 4am or later. If not, I'm in bed around 2pm. I tend to like feeling the pressure of a deadline, and I think that comes from writing for a newspaper for three years. The closer the deadline, but more focused the writing.
