Friends With Benefits Pub...
AP wants to do a story on Friends With Benefits, so that is going to be great pub. On another note, Savoy magazine still hasn't paid me. Now the publisher's excuse is she is waiting for the US Postal Service to give her some money. She runs two different publications, but she can't pay me. Sad.

Like I always tell my Dad, "Your people, they ain't ready."
All joking aside, when I hear about the hardships of the freelance writing biz, it makes me appreciate my day job all the more. I suppose I'd have to put it down if I got a TV staff job, but other than that I'm holding on tight.
Worth noting here that sometimes the reputable, established institutions can be as shady as fly by nighters. In Hollywood and in glossy magazines.
That's why I don't depend on freelance work at all. I used to be the managing editor of a mag with a publisher who thought nothing of paying people six months after they were promised. This was a one off, BUT, I still want my cash. Savoy maybe be glossy, but it's still shady.
Once upon a time I was ramping up production on my own lit mag. I paid writers cash on acceptance from my own pocket. I was unemployed and bleeding cash in my first year of grad school at the time, but I was going to treat writers the way I would have wanted to be treated.
There's just no excuse for not paying up. If I could do it, anyone could.
I'm so livid I can't tell you. I'm fortunate in that I don't need the money for anything specific, but just the blow off gets on my nerve. I should have visited their office when I was last in Chicago.
