Hey everyone, my name is Lawrence Ross and I'm what they call a pro-fess-ion-al writer. That means I get paid to write and hopefully enough folks buy my stuff. It's what I've always wanted to do, and I'm lucky enough to do it. Follow me on my journey.

But you were on such a roll with Project X! How do you find all this multitasking -- does it energize you, or do you feel like you are being pulled apart?
I feel pretty energized. But now I'm getting to the point where I want things done. Project X is simply a matter of finishing. But since I really can't do more than three thousand words a day as a limit, it can get pretty monotonous thinking only about that storyline. So I try to take breaks. When writing books, I'm sort of like a faucet that turns on and off. When I flow, I'm flowing pretty fast and good. When I'm off, I stop and move to something else. If you don't look away, you'll find that you're characters will start reflecting your ambivalence in their dialogue.
Since Friends is a project where I can't get back any prep days, and these prep days determine whether or not the book sinks, swims, or swims for a long time, I constantly feel the clock ticking on that. I actually love this process, where most of the authors tend to hate it. I think the difference is that I started writing ten years ago after having owned my own business. So I look at the commodity side of writing as being an essential, and not a degradation of the art. I like figuring out ways to get people to pick up and buy my book.
But when I get to UCLA, I want to pretty much concentrate on two things: my classwork and BlackCafeLit. The way I have it scheduled, my next book will come out at the same time as FWB, so it won't mess with school.
Oops, mean't "your" not "you're". That's why writers have editors. lol
and I meant MEANT not mean't. Oh to hell with it all!
